Comprare il necessario

Veronica has just arrived in Rome for a short work trip. It is her first time in Italy. She is staying for four days. Then she goes back home. She is in a small apartment near the station and the office area. It is her first evening in the city, she is a bit tired and hungry. She decides to go to the minimarket on the corner to buy something to eat. Tonight she doesn't want to go to a restaurant.

Veronica finds the bread. There are many kinds: white bread, brown bread, small bread rolls. She chooses a simple bread and puts it in the basket. Near the bread she sees some apples. They are fresh and red, so she takes four apples in a small paper bag.

When she comes back, she sees a big fridge full of cheese. She decides to buy a fresh burrata. Then she checks her basket: a bottle of water, a bread, four apples, a small tin of tuna and a piece of burrata. It is enough for tonight. She goes to the checkout. In front of her there is a woman with a big trolley, but the line moves fast.

When it is her turn, the cashier says, “Good evening. Have you found everything?” “Good evening, yes, I have found everything,” says Veronica. The cashier passes the products and then says the total. Veronica pays with her card.

Veronica puts the bread, the apples and the water in the bag and says, “Thank you, good evening”. The cashier also wishes her a good evening. Veronica goes back to her apartment with the bag in her hand.

On the way home she feels happy and a little proud. It was a very simple visit to a small supermarket, but she found everything she needed and spoke only Italian. For her it is a good start to her trip in Italy. She hopes that the rest of the trip will be as simple as this evening.
