Una breve prenotazione telefonica

Leo is in his hotel room on a Friday afternoon. He wants to go out for dinner with a friend. The restaurant is very famous, so he decides to call and make a reservation. He is a little nervous. Phone calls in another language are not easy.

He looks at the number on the website, takes a deep breath and calls. “Good evening, Restaurant La Luna,” a voice says. “How can I help you?” “Good evening,” Leo answers. “I would like to book a table, please.”

“For which day?” the woman asks. “For tomorrow evening,” Leo says. “Saturday.” “And for what time?” “For eight o’clock,” he answers. He speaks slowly and clearly. “For how many people?” “A table for two, please.”

“May I have your name?” the woman asks. “Yes, of course. My name is Leo Carter,” he says. “L‑E‑O, then C‑A‑R‑T‑E‑R.” He says the name letter by letter. “Thank you, Mr Carter,” the woman says.

“Can you also give me your phone number?” the woman asks. “Yes, of course. My phone number is: zero three one six eight three four seven five three two. It is an international number,” Leo says.

“Perfect,” she says. “So, a table for two, tomorrow at eight, in the name of Carter.” “Yes, that's right,” Leo says. “Thank you very much.” “You're welcome. See you tomorrow. Have a nice evening.” “To you too. Goodbye,” Leo says and ends the call.

Leo smiles. The conversation is short and simple: name, day, time, number of people, phone number. But that is enough. Now he has his reservation and feels more confident for the next phone call, maybe for a hotel room.
