Today I read the news in the newspaper while I drink coffee. They talk about the launch of a new tea in my neighborhood. The owner of the café writes a short report for his team. I have a contact there, and he tells me everything. On the front page there is a big image of a cup. The press says that many people are going to go and try it. I also want to go tomorrow and see if there is a special offer. I smile and I continue reading calmly, without hurry.

In the restaurant, there is a meeting. The director arrives with an important position. The general and the major also arrive for a work meal. At the door there is a guard, serious but friendly. On the table there is wine, tea, and bread. I serve water and I listen a little. The director asks for a sales report and talks about a new menu. The general asks simple questions and the major takes notes. Everything is formal and calm.

Suddenly a drunk man comes in and makes a scene. He talks loudly and throws a glass on the floor. The guard goes quickly and asks for calm. He calls the lieutenant and the neighborhood sergeant. They arrive and they look at the table and the door. It is not a big danger, but everyone gets scared. A woman is a witness and tells what she sees. The lieutenant gives the drunk man water and talks slowly. The drunk man feels shame and sits down in silence.

After that, the sergeant looks for evidence and looks at the broken glass and the table. The lieutenant does a simple test: he asks two people and compares their words. I give my contact and my name, in case they need to call. Later the press arrives, but the guard says: ‘no photos, please’. The director asks for an explanation and the general listens. In the end they write a short report, and everyone goes back to eating, with more calm.

When I close the restaurant, the kitchen is dark. Only a small light is on. Suddenly I see a shadow and I think: it is a ghost. I laugh a little, because I know it is only a bag on the wall. But I am careful with the hot griddle. One time I got a burn and I do not want another one. At the door there is still a guard, and he tells me good night. The street is quiet and I walk home calmly.

The next day I think about the experience. I don’t like the noise, but I learn. A lieutenant tells me that it is normal in a place with many people. I save the guard’s contact number, in case something happens again. I also read a report from the director/directora about the service. It says that we must speak calmly and help the customers. The press no longer talks about the problem; now it talks about the launch of the tea. With this experience, I work better.

At my job I always say one thing: there are no drugs here. If a person brings drugs, it is a danger for everyone. The guard calls the sergeant and the lieutenant, and they do a test and look for evidence. I do not want shame in the restaurant. I want food and drink, and respect. If something happens, we write a report and we speak calmly. This way the news is good and the press talks about the new tea. When everything is in order, the general and the major can come back and have dinner in peace.
