On my first trip, I look for a new place in the world. I choose a small country and a quiet city. Before leaving, I look at a map and read the name of each important street. At the station, I buy a ticket and ask for directions. I want to get to a simple hotel near the center, so I can walk without rushing. Next to the hotel there is a quiet area to sit down and watch life. When I think about the trip, I feel calm and curious.

I leave the station and look for my car. Inside, I put the suitcase in and close the door. On the first street I see a sign: the center is to the left, and the port is to the right. I drive slowly and look ahead to see pedestrians. In the middle of the road I stop at a traffic light. A friend is next to me, reads the map, and says to me: “Go straight”. So I don’t get lost and I arrive at the hotel. It is a good place to rest.

Another day I leave the car and take a train. The station is full, but everything is clear. The train passes through a small town and through an area of fields. I see the brown earth and the mountains far away. I sit down in the middle of the train car, near the window. At each stop I hear the name of the town over the loudspeaker and I look at the clock. On the platform I buy water and I go back to the train calmly. I think about my country and other countries in the world, and I understand that to travel is to learn.

In the afternoon I walk to the sea. In front of the port I see a big ship. The land ends and the water starts. In that area I hear seagulls and I see nets. I go up to the top of a viewpoint and I look at the ship from above. Then I return to the hotel along a quiet street. In the hotel there is a small bar and, next to it, a club with soft music. That moment is part of my trip, and I feel good in the city, really.

In the morning I visit an old church in the city. It is at the top of a hill. I go up a narrow street and I see houses on each side. In front of the church there is a big door and a small square. In that area there are tourists and also people from the village. I go in with respect, I look inside, and I speak in a low voice. A guide says that this church is important for the country and for the world. It is a quiet place to think.

After that I go out and I walk without a plan. In the city everything is fast, but in the nearby village everything is slow. In the middle of the village square there is a tree and children. I sit down on a bench and I look at the ground near my shoes. I think: each area has its rhythm. Later I go back to the station to see the train back. In the end I walk down another street and I arrive at the hotel to rest. Traveling in my country and in other countries shows me a big and diverse world.

At night I go out calmly. In the hotel bar I ask for water and I listen to soft music. Then, in the club, people dance, but I only look. Some friends are next to me and they talk about the trip. In front there is a window and I see the empty street. To go back, I take the street on the right and then the one on the left. Later I go back to the car, I put everything inside, and I close it. It is a good place to finish the day.
