When I enter the new house, I open the boxes and look around each room calmly. I choose a light colour for the walls and compare it in daylight. I put every object on the table, check it, and then put it back in its place.

I make a list on paper so I do not forget anything. On a small card I also write a reminder, and I keep it where I can see it. In the end I look at the room again and I feel the house changes, little by little.

My apartment is on the fifth floor of a quiet, tidy building. I usually take the elevator to go up, but sometimes I take the stairs to move a little. At the top I step into the hallway, walk slowly, and listen to the sounds of the building.

From the glass door I can see the balcony, and I put some plants there. On hot days I go up to the shared terrace and breathe fresh air. From there you can also see the roof, and the building looks even bigger.

In the evening I come back and look for the key in my bag because I do not want to make noise. I put the key in the lock, turn it, and open the door carefully. I go in, close the door, and check the lock again because I like to feel safe.

Then I open a window to change the air and let a little light come in. I move the curtain, look outside, and close the window again. I go through the hallway and prepare the house for the night.

In the living room I keep everything simple, so I can really relax. I put the sofa near the window and I put an armchair next to the sofa to read. In front I put a low table and I put an extra chair around it when friends arrive.
