Um novo dia no escritório

Tiago has a new job in an office in Lisbon. He is still learning how everything works, from the computer system and the meetings to, of course, the coffee breaks. Today is just a normal Tuesday, but every small moment is a chance to learn something new.

At nine o’clock, Tiago arrives at the office. He greets the receptionist and goes to his desk. His colleague Inês is already there. “Good morning,” she says. “How are you today?”

“Good morning,” Tiago replies. “I’m fine, thank you. A little tired, but fine. And you?” “I’m fine too,” says Inês. “We’re going to get a lot of work done today,” she adds enthusiastically.

Tiago turns on the computer and checks his email. There is a message from his boss: a brief meeting was scheduled a little while ago for ten o’clock, and she thought it would be a good idea for Tiago to take part too.

At ten, Tiago goes to the meeting room with his notebook. The boss explains a new project: a report that the team has to finish by the end of the week.

Sometimes, Tiago does not understand all the details, but he listens carefully and writes down the important expressions to review later: “deadline by the end of the week”, “new client”, “sales statistics”.

At the end, the boss asks, “Any questions?” Tiago asks a simple question to confirm his part of the work. The boss answers and smiles. “Good question,” she says.
